Golf Swing Sequencing - The Secret For Effortless Distance

The order in which you swing the golf club has a major effect on the distance that you can hit the golf ball. If you have the incorrect sequencing of the golf swing it can cost you a lot of distance. So if you're like most golfers who want to hit the golf ball as far as you possibly can -- you've got to understand the correct sequence of the golf swing.

To get started let's look at what should happen in the sequencing of the backswing.

When you start your backswing you should do so with the big muscles e.g. your back and shoulders. You should not start your backswing with your hands e.g. picking the club up.

Now as you're starting the backswing by turning your shoulders and back you also need to shift your weight to your right foot. You need to continue to shift your weight to your right foot as you're turning your shoulders and back on the backswing. And keep doing this so that at the top of your backswing position you have about 85 - 90% of your weight on your right foot.

So you can sum up the backswing as a shift and turn.

Now at what part of the golf swing does the most power come from?

It's the transition. And the transition in the golf swing is when you change directions from the backswing to downswing.

Just think, if this wasn't true you'd have golfers setting themselves into a perfect top of the backswing position and then swinging from there. But that doesn't happen and never will because it's the change of directions from moving the club back to bringing it down where the real power in the golf swing comes from. And that's the key place in the golf swing where most amateur golfers lose a heck of a lot of distance. This is through a lack of the correct golf swing sequencing. Let me explain.

Imagine you've reached the top of your backswing position. What do you think should start the downswing?

The correct answers is: The weight shift should!

To start the downswing you need to first move your weight back to your left foot. Then you need to move your left knee towards the target, then the left hip needs to move towards the target, followed by the left shoulder and finally your hands should move.

The sad thing is that most golfers start their downswing with their hands and that's a killer as far as creating distance is concerned. You've got to start the downswing with the weight shift and then the left knee.

So go out and try this now.

To do this I want you to swing slowly back to the very top of your backswing. Then when you've almost reached the top of your backswing position I then want you to move your weight back to your left foot and then move your left knee towards the target. Once you've got the feeling of doing this then speed up the swing.

Now personally I just like thinking about moving my left knee towards the target to start the downswing. And I suggest you try that golf swing trigger as well.

If you get this sequencing correct from the backswing to downswing you'll gain a lot of distance and the golf swing will be a lot easier for you. Try it you'll love the results!

Proper Golf Swing Secrets Revealed

Did you know that the average golfer's gross score is 107 shots? If you've hit with your golf driver perfectly one time, you can do it every time; you have a perfect, proper golf swing, just develop it. And now is always the time to fix an unpredictable golf swing.

Positive thinking and positive energy you send out will influence your game, just as negative thinking and therefore negative energy will affect it also. Understanding your golf swing is one of the first steps you can take toward swing improvement. Don't worry about what others think or say about your swing if it isn't up to snuff; work to improve it at your own speed. golf also requires tough mental fitness as well as physical fitness and this is often overlooked.

When you swing, use muscles in your legs and trunk. Ask your golf pro to evaluate your posture and biomechanics while you are swinging. At the end of a backswing the hands should be above the right shoulder with the golf club pointing more or less in the intended direction of the ball flight.

And sidespin occurs when the clubface is not properly aligned perpendicularly to the plane of the swing and make sure not to grip the golf club too tightly. Accomplished golfers purposely use sidespin to ultimately steer the ball around obstacles or head toward the safe side of fairways and greens.

When you swing, if you have problems with your left knee buckling, imagine holding a soccer ball between your knees. The backswing is a simple rotation to the right, consisting of a shifting of the player's body weight to the right side, turning of the pelvis and shoulders, lifting of the arms and flexing of the elbows and wrists. It is difficult for a golfer to practice hitting shots longer than short pitch shots, unless of course, one pays to play golf or pays to practice at a driving range or indoor golf training facility.

The most important thing about the golf swing is the angle, not the strength that is applied to it, that's one of many swing secrets. Ideally putts and short chips are played without much movement of the body, but almost all other golf shots are played using variants of the full golf swing.

Consistent workouts will change your golf game forever. Turn to golf exercise and techniques if you want to gain more strength and power. To prevent injury and improve your swing speed and distance requires your body to be strong and flexible. Most golfers don't know there are techniques that will greatly affect swing mechanics; you can get an edge by changing your approach.

Patanjali's Eight Limbs of Yoga

The eight limbs of yoga, as described by Maharishi Patanjali, in the yoga Sutras, are a system of steps toward absolute bliss or enlightenment. The first four limbs (steps) are primarily concerned with ethical guidelines, developing awareness of the energy body, and physical mastery.

The last four limbs are concerned with development of consciousness through meditation. The physical body is a capsule for the soul (Jiva). The physical body has basic functional demands, and sensory demands, for pleasure. Transcending awareness beyond the physical senses grants us peace with ourselves.

If the general population of this planet would follow ethical guidelines, and transcend their awareness beyond the physical barrier of the body, we would have world peace. Just to listen, observe, and act, guided by our empathic sense is a good start toward helping others.

When you contemplate the first two limbs of yoga (Yama and Niyama), you will notice they flow in harmony with every moral code in existence. The principles of Yama and Niyama are universal laws for mankind.

You may have noticed that ten is a common number for moral codes. The Ten Commandments are another example of ethical guidelines. With ten fingers on our two hands, it makes it easy for humans to remember. Hence, we have five Yamas and five Niyamas, for a total of ten.

Yama are restraints, but are sometimes called Thou Shall Nots by western yoga teachers. It is not enough to observe them. It is much more important to live by them in our actions, words, and thoughts.
